Hi! We are An and Jeff Scott, two happily retired septuagenarians from the USA, who had a dream. That dream was to retire in France. So, we sold most of our “stuff”, packed and shipped the rest, and with our bossy little Yorkie, Bella, said “goodbye” to the USA. In 2024, we moved from the sunny coast of southwest Florida to the sunny coast of the south of France, to enjoy our “golden years” and embrace the “joie de vivre” available to us, here in beautiful Nice, France.

Moving from the USA to a foreign country was no small “project”. Through our videos, we’ve been taking you through the Long Stay Visa process, the packing, the purging, the moving, searching for an apartment, creating a great Dossier, learning the way things are done administratively in France, and sharing the steps, talking about what we’ve learned and the ups and the downs.

And now, we continue to share our life, our new life, here in Nice, getting settled, adjusting to the “French” way of doing things, dealing with the French “red tape”, reveling in the beauty of the world around us…and all the while, making every wonderful day in Nice, the best day ever…

  1. Butcher shop, American bakery, lunch in Italy, dinner at eau-de-vie restaurant, dancing on the square, Asian market. The Asian Market was the best discovery for me on this video. I love cooking Asian food and I am so happy you found this gem for us. Thank you! Loved 🥰 it all. You two are awesome 👏♥️😎 💘🌈🪴🍄☘️🌻

  2. Bonjour An, Jeff and Bella. My husband and I will be in Nice beginning of October, we will be there to scout out the different neighborhoods in Nice. We’re planning to start our visa process to move to Nice in the middle of 2026. My question is where and what train do we take to go to Ventimiglia and the name of the restaurant for the pizza Jeff had, I prefer thick crust pizza. It looks so delicious. Love all your videos and thank you for sharing all your helpful tips. Maybe we’ll run into you in Nice this October.

  3. Wow the asian supermarket really has everything to make a lot of asian meals. They even have durian fruit ( the big green ones ). I couldn't even eat it because it has a special flavor but people who love it really love it. You could try the potstickers Bibigo in the frozen section. They are one of the best. Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤

  4. Bonjour, You two are the best at finding new and interesting places to eat, shop or dance!… must say what elegant dancers you both are ❗️

  5. I love a good butchers and I love having a nosey at that one in the old town whenever I’m in Nice. L’Eau de Vie looks lovely! I’m definitely putting that on the list for next time we visit Nice !

  6. Hi An, fellow expat here. I saw you at the Aprés midi but it was so crowded I couldn’t make my way to you and I had to leave. What a great presentation! I really enjoyed it. When we go to that square where they dance on Wednesday night we always go to the other restaurant with the white awning. It’s our local “hangout”. Great Bistro food and such friendly funny waiters!! If you decide to go there you just might run into us!

  7. Very good to see inside the Asiana Market (56 Bd Risso) – I've passed it a few times but didn't realize how big it is. I'll definitely check it out.

  8. You both look terrific and so happy! I found St Francis Butcher staff terrible to foreigners…especially English trying to speak French. I found several butchers a few blocks down the alley much more cordial and very high quality also.

  9. The Japanese restaurant: Gazpacho?!!! 😂
Jeff's Mrs Paul's fish 😉 looked so good, but with the mashed potatoes, that didn't look very Japanese, either! 😂
If I wound up in Nice, I'd go there! 😋
