Hi! We are An and Jeff Scott, two happily retired septuagenarians from the USA, who had a dream. That dream was to retire in France. So, we sold most of our “stuff”, packed and shipped the rest, and with our bossy little Yorkie, Bella, said “goodbye” to the USA. In 2024, we moved from the sunny coast of southwest Florida to the sunny coast of the south of France, to enjoy our “golden years” and embrace the “joie de vivre” available to us, here in beautiful Nice, France.
Moving from the USA to a foreign country was no small “project”. Through our videos, we’ve been taking you through the Long Stay Visa process, the packing, the purging, the moving, searching for an apartment, creating a great Dossier, learning the way things are done administratively in France, and sharing the steps, talking about what we’ve learned and the ups and the downs.
And now, we continue to share our life, our new life, here in Nice, getting settled, adjusting to the “French” way of doing things, dealing with the French “red tape”, reveling in the beauty of the world around us…and all the while, making every wonderful day in Nice, the best day ever…

For those of you who asked about where we bought the “tornado flames lamp”, I misspoke. I purchased it on Temu. Here’s a link to it – https://share.temu.com/qokMgpMfX1A
Most of our videos are shot with An’s Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Smartphone and a circular ring light, as needed.

Lovely 🥰
I love that flaming lamp! What is it called on Amazon?
Love your videos… they are preparing us for our visit to Nice next month. What a lovely outside terrace lamp, very unique! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your adventures.
I wanted to bring home a lemon tree
If you're looking for that "tornado flame" lamp, I misspoke. Actually found it on Temu. Here's a link to buy one. They shipped it very quickly – https://share.temu.com/qokMgpMfX1A
Another wonderful video. I love the scene with the balloon vendor. Like a French film! Love it!
Ann.. here's a track by an artist I absolutely love you might be familiar with her too(Basia) she sings about an olive tree and being in the south of France how appropriate❤
Google the lyrics to better understand. https://youtu.be/pB5kz5itH0U?si=1DO3IOhzvzUOXN6y
Wonderful video! Thank you!
That King cake could be saved! By adding some butter or jam, or… fresh orange juice ~ put this cake into the bake form , make it warm and add warmed orange juice into it and let it cool down ~ and then~ moist and more delicious! 😅😊❤
Love these vids. I have never been to Nice in the winter when it isn't as hot or hectic as it is in the summer. The king cake looks different from the one we have in NOLA. Very interesting to see the differences.
Hi An and Jeff. From the Cave Caprioglio I would recommend Château Arnoude, the red and rosé to be found in the front of the store. Those are local wines from the Var region and are high quality for its low price.
Make sure to put a lunch or dinner at Hotel School Paul Augier on your bucket list (located opposite to the airport). Here students are trained for the high end of hotels and restaurants. There are three restaurants you can choose from, you must make reservations on their website. It is a unique experience and I always learn something new 🙂
See you around sometime.
Good luck, good fortune, good things to you guys from that Olive tree, it’s nice!
Are you allowed to have active fire on a balcony? Seems dangerous. Do you and Jeff plan on staying in your apartment long term or will you be looking elsewhere? Just wondering because other people I know who worked with AL Group have moved or hoped to move after a year. Not so much from Nice but in other areas after getting to know the city better.
After spending about two weeks looking at the different areas, I like the Musician quarter or Le Fleur. I also liked Old Port😊
I have bought wine from the vats on the wall at that wine shop! We had to bring our own bottle. It was about 2€ to fill the bottle, choice of rose, white, or red, I believe. My husband died in 2020, so it was before that. You were about a half block from my apartment at the beging of the video.
La Roche Bobois is a high -end brand, the prices are quite high.
Look forward to your videos, have been watching since the beginning. PLAN to follow you in a few years
D yum have a camera for your videos or just use your iPhone!? What equipment doo you need?
My hubby would love Confiserie Florian. Everything looks delicious, and beautifully decorated. Thanks for sharing more great discoveries with us.
Thank you! Lots of interesting info. Cheers 🥂
