027 This week we visit a “YouTube” famous brocante, Emmaus 36. We also finally visit a brocante that is closer to our house. Both of these brocantes are full of really great antiques. Enjoy.

Thanks again for watching,

Michael and April

Description of Us:
We are a couple of American Francophiles who have come to truly appreciate so many things about French culture. We love the food, wine, art, and history of France, but especially the people we have met along the way. Join us as we make our dream of living in France a reality. Follow us as we explore the French living and a new life there with our beloved dog, Bernice. We enjoy learning about stone house renovation, wine, cooking, brocante shopping, and the French community we are now a part of.

I have been dying to visit this Brant
and we have passed it multiple times and
it was just never open and so um our
schedules weren’t lining up today was my
lucky day and I got to kind of step
inside this really traditional French
Brant and you can see that this is some
of of the things that I think that if
you love thrift
store um culture or or Brook hunting you
would absolutely love this one um it it
was just full of amazing things and it
was a little bit overwhelming because
there was literally something on every
surface but if you enjoy kind of just
looking at the amazing antiques um this
is your kind of place so I just kind of
walked around and took a look at what
was there and it’s the type of place
that I feel like I could go back
multiple times and just find different
things every single time um I just
really
love these stores and I love watching
the videos about them which I know makes
me totally weird but um the art and the
porcelain and the
furniture uh is just really fun for me
so I’m going to be quiet and let you
just watch some of the amazing things
that were here at the brook hont and um
just let you enjoy sort of this I think
underappreciated um part of the French
culture which is that everything gets
used again everything is valued it’s
just not a throwaway type culture and it
just means that these marvelous things
that are just so full of History just
continue to find um love beloved homes
um so please enjoy

  1. You're not alone, don't worry. 😊
We love going to brocantes, vide greniers, etc, whenever we leave the US and come to France. Can't imagine a more perfect way to spend a day!

  2. Thank you for Another excellent posting. I too appreciate French culture and others that value extending life for articles that are used and perhaps old. It’s appalling how easily we’ve become a throwaway culture with designed obsolescence and ever changing styles and fashions. I live in Cape May in a house that was built in 1890. Rather than tearing it down, Ive brought it back making certain the electrical and plumbing system were brought up to code, windows and roof inspected and repaired, garage refurbished and landscaping updated. It’s been professionally painted with historically accurate color and furnished with items and furniture I’ve found at second hand stores and estate sales. There are no closets so I found perfect used cedar closets for the bedrooms and added a first floor bathroom using a galvanized tub and galvanized shower walls which have worked perfectly while maintaining the charm of an old farmhouse.
Please keep up with your excellent and inspiring channel. Perhaps we will meet sometime during one of my return trips to France. All best…Joe.

  3. I love thrifting. How exciting it would be to thrift in France, especially the small towns like yours. I saw so many lovely items, unique bits & bobs. All those odd shaped cups were cool. I would have bought a couple of them, maybe a toothbrush holder, or display on a coffee bar or small vase. Very nice soothing video!

  4. Hi where was the 2nd brocante you visited? Is it the one near bellac? We went to one the other year and could never remember where it was. Thanks lance

  5. I absolutely love seeing all the Brocantes. They are somewhat similar to the Flea Markets in the United States. I have spent entire days looking for treasures. ❤
