I am quitting….. French village life, Making Decisions

one of my previous videos I um talk a
little bit about my work in Monaco but I
didn’t really tell what I’m doing um I
just uh I didn’t really
tell um what I am
doing uh I can
tell I just uh said that I’m working in
office the easiest way to say that I’m
working in finance but um in like in in
English language you will call it a risk
Department I know that uh from the time
when I was working in Thailand we called
it risk Department you’re just like you
work a lot with the finance department
and the legal department you know a bit
of both and you’re like in between and
uh today it was my it is uh still um I
didn’t get to the Village yet I just sto
to show you this beautiful view uh so
today is my last day driving um back
home from from Monaco from work uh yeah
yesterday we had like an opero with the
colleagues and today it’s my really last
day and I had to just finish uh the
things uh the last things and uh clear
the computer and clean the desk and Say
Goodbye yeah I leave it all
behind I leave it all behind so um I
just wanted to show you this beautiful
view of the village uh it’s already late
uh and uh let’s go let’s go I’ll show
you

go there are two things happened one was
planned and discussed and we prepared
for this is that I will quit working in
Monaco so I will definitely not get now
this dream retirement you know all
people who lives here uh dream of uh
it’s actually very interesting fact that
if you work only 10 years in Monaco you
will get a
retirement that would be a minimum
amount and you will get it after a
certain age but uh you will have it uh
if you work there 10 years
uh longer you work hard this well anyway
uh I will not get it uh because I was
working there less than 10 years and I
won’t work there any longer you will do
a job over five people and if you are
not happy about it the door is open and
there are hundreds of people are waiting
to take your place so that was crazy a
lots of people who is living here want
to get a job in Monaco because the
salaries are higher and uh and the
medical insurance is very good like
really very good and um yeah lots of
people want to work there even in our
village I remember there was a question
like where people do work uh here living
in this Village I will say half of the
village are working in Monaco and uh I
was happy work there because we had this
big renovation project when our project
was finished in November I started to um
look for a part-time job and I found it
now and it’s French contract of course
it will make a very big difference from
what I had in Monaco everybody Lees the
same thing especially if you are from
the big city and uh uh they’re for sure
the worst scenario in Monaco you work 39
hours a week and uh if you are an office
job uh you will start at 9: and uh
finish at 6 and you will have a crazy
traffic uh during this specific time you
go out at 8 in the morning and you are
back at 7:30 in the evening and you have
only 1 and a half hour to spend with
your child before uh he goes to sleep so
last Friday for the first time I went to
take mat from school in time at 4:30 and
uh I was the happiest mom in the world
now I will spend more time with Matt I
will be able to bring him to a sport
activities um I will learn more about
photography and all of these things so
this is the good thing the other thing
uh that happened is the roof you
remember I told it we had lots of rain
in March uh so our roof couldn’t stand
it and um we knew that we need to change
the roof completely since the beginning
but uh there was always other thing to
repair and um I know that the roof is
the most important part of the
[Music]
house conditions of the roof when we
bought the house was very bad it is
still now we repaired it in few places
hoping to buy some time some more
time I was hoping to spend at least one
more winter like
this I was hoping to stay like this the
time I changed activities but what we
plan and how the things really happen
it’s almost never the
same

oh now we have no choice but change the
roof
and this is how it looks like from
outside we covered the roof because we
expect some more rainy
days and uh from
inside it looks even
[Music]
worse oh
no all this
happened during one month no no
this is for sure that we cannot stay one
more winter like
this so we have three maybe four month
maximum to fix the roof before the next
winter
and uh we know already how it would cost
us so the first thing I was thinking do
I have a time to go back to my job but
it was already late so we have the
summer to figure out what we’re going to
do and how we will fix
it we also have to follow the standards
because we’re living in this medieval
village and uh normally the roofs have
to be a special
color the three colors uh proval
Tri
so we will take it in
mind so we have to also inform the city
hall about upcoming
roof renovation and start to contact the
repairing companies

like we knew that something going to
happen with the upstairs area we never
even fed it uh much we have only this
old canipe that we are about to drop it
serves us well but it’s time to change
it
now h
this living room is very big actually
for just three of us and um even when we
have the guests we always stay
downstairs where the kitchen and dining
table and the Terrace and um upstairs we
always felt
ourself not really comfortable it’s not
cozy

Matthew just suggesting us to paint
everything in white so we don’t see the
links we would be very happy if it’s so
easy just to do this so as I said that
we never spend much time here uh that we
we just didn’t feel
comfortable and uh let’s take something
positive from this um upcoming
renovation we want to divide this area
into
two and make a room for
Matthew
made windows on a
ceilings on another side of the living
room and and uh live it as a living room
just next to the

fireplace I prefer room to be small but
cozy and uh from Matthew room actual
Matthew room I want to do my place where
I can work I will call it my dream
Studio we have a good weather today but
we will have some rain uh soon and we
had already so
much we had hail another

we had this strange snow or hail or I
don’t know how to call it and lots of
rain more than in many many many past
years and this is our Trail where we
usually
walk in the forest and it turns to a
river now it’s a river no doubt that
with this unusual weather our roof was
damaged we can’t fix the roof for a
moment but Matt is trying to fix the
trail he’s building

thinking should I go back to Monaco
I might the doors are not
closed but do I want to step in the same
river
twice I hope
not whatever happens at the end
everything going to be all right
