I travelled across America trying famous USA drive-thrus, but rather than choosing my own food, I asked the staff to surprise me!
As a Brit who’s never visited most of these places before, I thought I’d let the people who work there decide what I should eat. From White Castle in Las Vegas to In-N-Out Burger on the way to Los Angeles, Randy’s Donuts, Raising Cane’s, McDonald’s pizza in Florida and Culver’s in Tampa, I had some brilliant experiences and a few rather unexpected conversations!

I'm already thinking about doing this again as I had lots of suggestions for where to visit! Which drive-thru should I visit next time? Bonus points if it's somewhere I've probably never heard of like Culver's!

We just got a culvers where I live. I really like their mushroom Swiss. You can get a brioche bun there.
I've had meals comped or been given a gift certificate for a free meal when I've had to wait a long time in America. I've never asked for it either. It's more common than you might expect. A lot of restaurants would rather give you a free meal or a free drink or free sample or something than have a bad review. I used to love Long John Silver's. Sadly the one in my town burned and they never rebuilt. But there is one in London….Kentucky.
Mate, if you make it down to South Florida, I would love to meet you and show you some really cool places to eat.
