Ray Mack’s French Onion Garlic Potatoes
Ingredients
4 medium potatoes, diced into 1-inch pieces
1 large onion, sliced thin
1½–2 tablespoons French onion garlic seasoning
1 teaspoon Adobo seasoning
2–3 tablespoons oil or melted butter
¼ cup water
Black pepper, optional
Instructions
1. Prep the potatoes: Wash and dice the 4 potatoes into bite-sized pieces. Leave the skin on if you like that rustic texture.
2. Season: Add potatoes to a large bowl. Toss with the French onion garlic seasoning, Adobo, and 1 tablespoon of oil.
3. Start the onions: Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and beginning to caramelize.
4. Add the potatoes: Add the seasoned potatoes to the skillet and toss everything together.
5. Steam and cook: Pour in ¼ cup water, cover, and cook for about 10 minutes. This helps the potatoes become tender without burning the onions.
6. Crisp them up: Remove the lid and continue cooking for another 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the water evaporates and the potatoes develop a golden, crispy exterior.
7. Finish: Taste and adjust the seasoning. Let them cook undisturbed for the last 2–3 minutes so you get those crispy browned edges.
🔥 Ray Mack’s Upgrade
If you have butter, add 1 tablespoon during the final 2 minutes. The butter + caramelized onions + French onion seasoning will make these potatoes absolutely ridiculous.
Serving idea: These would be 🔥 alongside fried chicken, pork chops, steak, burgers, or even breakfast eggs and sausage.
