Just moved into this condo and i’m not sure how to place curtains. The part that sticks out most likely comes from the hood vent so I’m not sure if I can just remove it.
If it’s possible, i’d really like to not use roman shades. Any advice appreciated!

mount the rod above and wider than the window so the curtains fall in front of that bump, you won’t even see it
I would affix the dowel holders on the left and right sides of the molding on top of the window.
