Vermentino changed my mind about Italian whites.

Aia Vecchia Vermentino, Toscana 2024, from Maremma.

Found this at Whole Foods and didn't think twice. Aia Vecchia Vermentino from Maremma, eighteen bucks. Tried it, and changed how I think about Italian whites.

Everyone I've given it to loves it. Wine nerds, casual drinkers, doesn't matter. It just works.

If you've been sleeping on Italian whites because you're too busy chasing Burgundy, this is your sign to stop and try something new.

Crisp, mineral, citrus, salted almond finish. Coastal wine, tastes like it. Definite crowd pleaser. Enjoy!!!

I just started pouring this by the glass and everyone I’ve convinced to give it a chance has loved it! Crowd pleaser with enough complexity to make me happy to pour it. White peach, green apple, little bit of citrus and this sea spray/saline finish that reminds me of Albariño. Such a great wine.

If you really want that crisp white, look at greek wines. My new found love are Assyrtikos. Vermentinos are still great, but for me if I had to choose an italian white, I’ve always been a Soave fan.

Was introduced to it in situ. What a tremendous week of mirth and merriment was had by all on the back of it
