I found this old wooden box in the trash in a really bad shape, but I couldn't just let it go. It was falling apart, full of random holes, and the lid was broken.
First I removed the old ruined hinges. Then I had to patch up the broken corners on the lid with some scrap wood and filled all the holes I could find. After that, it was just a lot of sanding to get it clean.
For the finish, I used linseed oil mixed with a bit of colorant to get that warm tone, and then finished it with wax. To top it off, I added some new iron hinges and those brass decorative pieces on the front and lid.
It measures around 40 by 15 by 20 cm. It took some work but I'm really happy with how it turned out.
Let me know what you think!
