Living on a tropical island is a dream for many of us. For some, that has become a reality.

From international schools and gourmet cuisine, to 5-star hotels and iconic beaches – the lifestyle elements of Koh Samui are, like their waters, crystal clear. But is there an investment case to underpin the lifestyle appeal?

Join me, Jonathan Benarr, as I explore Koh Samui, meeting local experts and long-term residents to uncover the data, the structural realities, and the lifestyle infrastructure that truly drives this island market.

Is it a safe haven for your capital, or time to say goodbye? Let’s find out.

  1. Traveled to Koh Samui 7 times in past 10 years… it's already starting to be overpriced, overdeveloped with questionable infrastructure. Too many risks.

  2. Foreigners can't own land. Only 30 year lease. If the leaseholder dies and gets passed to his children, you have no rights to renew. They can keep the home you own. The closer you get to your 30 year lease, no one wants to buy and locals don't have that type of money. Do your research. 30 + 30 + 30 is not guaranteed under current law.
