Les Baux-de-Provence rises from the white limestone cliffs of the Alpilles like something out of a dream. A thousand-year-old fortified village perched on a sheer rocky spur above the beautifully rugged Valley of Hell, it is proudly classified as a Grand Site de France and a member of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France. In this 4K walking tour, we are taking you deep into the heart of one of southern France’s most extraordinary medieval sites.
We begin our walk in the golden morning light, wandering up ancient winding cobblestone streets past beautifully preserved Renaissance doorways. We step inside the 12th-century Église Saint-Vincent, explore the stunning Hôtel de Manville, and climb to the romantic ruins of the Château des Baux, a formidable fortress that once controlled 79 towns across Provence. Reaching the highest panoramic viewpoints, the sweeping vistas rolling across the valley are simply breathtaking. With natural ambient sound, you can experience every stone and quiet alleyway exactly as it feels to be there, concluding with a peaceful dawn road trip epilogue through the rugged Alpilles mountains.
We are Michelle and Charlie. Living with chronic pain and fatigue taught us the profound value of slowing down, so we rebuilt our lives with a camera in hand. We film these walks to share real destinations in a calm, honest way, offering you a little breathing room, because quiet beauty is always worth the journey.

Дякую! Це цікаво! Подорожую там, де б не змогла побувати сама. Завдяки вам, вашій цікавій роботі, я бачу таку незвичайну красу!
Welcome to Les Baux-de-Provence, friends! 🌿
Officially crowned one of "The Most Beautiful Villages in France" and the moment we stepped onto these sheer white cliffs above the Alpilles, we understood exactly why.
This thousand year old fortress once controlled 79 towns across Provence. Every archway you walk through, every carved stone façade, it feels like stepping back into a different century.
What amazed us most wasn't just the jaw-dropping views over the Valley of Hell (yes, that's its real name), it was discovering how this very village gave the world bauxite.
Turn on the captions (CC) and wait for that story. 🎬
Grab a drink, settle in, and let's go for a peaceful walk together.
Which part of the village moved you most? 👇
Once again! Much appreciated! Made my Sunday. Winter and freezing cold here in Bloemfontein Freestate South Africa!
Michelle and Charlie, I am absolutely enchanted by this walk from start to finish! ✨ When you first drove up, I found myself wondering if the stark limestone cliffs would translate well on camera, and I was completely blown away by how gorgeous the lighting was.
Your historical eye is fantastic. Seeing those 13th-century trebuchets and siege engines perched up on that strategic mountain top was so cool. I noticed a brilliant piece of medieval engineering thanks to your framing: instead of carving out defensive holes that would structurally weaken the fortress walls, they built standalone wooden platforms for the archers to shoot from. That's incredibly unique and brilliant for defense!
Down in the lower village, the artisan shops looked so wonderfully classy with the wines, cheeses, fresh breads, and lavender—I could practically smell the Provence air through the screen. I found myself wishing I had the funds to stand right there in person, but I was instantly flooded with immense gratitude for what you two do. Because you are willing to capture and share these journeys so selflessly, I truly felt like I was able to experience the area completely.
The summit looked like a beautiful but challenging climb! Did you find it difficult to keep your camera rig stable on those ancient, uneven rock steps, or did the wind at the top give you any trouble with your audio setup? 🎥💨
Thank you both for such a lovely, restorative experience this morning. It was pure joy to decompress with you. — Shauna
