I've always liked wine but never really got into it. My friend got his level 4 som and started a wine club. It's less about the wine and more about the historied tradition of sharing a bottle of wine.
We have over 50 people who come, though not everyone attends every month. But with every person bringing one or more bottles of wine that's a lot of wine you can try.
There's no price or regional restrictions. And sometimes people use that to bring arbor mist or maneschevitz as a joke.
Wine is the drink of the people and Napa valley and other places like it turned it into a hobby of snobbery and exclusivity. When really all people are doing is drinking old fruit juice.
There are of course artists who create incredible wines and do so with a lot of intention. And most people who attend still are interested in learning something and trying a wine they never had or normally wouldn't buy. Many folks who said they didn't like red or white wine left with different mindsets
I've had $10 wines I've enjoyed so much more than a $50 bottle. Though of course some of those more expensive bottles are some of the best I've had as well.
Curious to know what bottles you all have had sub $20 that were remarkable for their price point.

va la! nice, I love them but not familiar with that one, at least I don’t remember it. I also like trefethen, one of the few spots I visited when I went to Napa a decade ago
