I always find great values on Cru Bourgeois Superieur wines. Some satellite appellations like Fronsac are getting better and better. Just had the '18 Ch Marsau(Bobby Parker calls it the Petrus of the Cotes de Francs) and it was one of the best effing Merlot I've had for a song.
When I think expensive I think Napa. It's become ridiculous.

I love Bordeaux! Yes, it is a vast region but there are many excellent value wines to try that will turn one onto merlot and blends.
Great video John! Spot on…..I have yet to have a first growth or 2nd growths. (One day I will) I have not spent more that $125 on a Bordeaux and I have absolutely loved all of them. Just finished a $60 pomerol last weekend and it was fabulous. I have 2 bottles of Chateau Margeaux Giscours 2022 in my wine refrigerator as we speak along with 2 other left and 2 right bankers. (One of them is only $25 with a 95 score by Decanter). I absolutely love your whole bottle reviews. They are exactly the way we experience them. I spend too much to spit them out!!!

Le Fiefs de Lagrange is the second wine of Château Lagrange, while Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré is the second wine of Château Léoville Poyferré. Unlike those wines, Clos du Marquis is not the second wine of Léoville Las Cases, but rather a separate Saint-Julien wine produced by the same ownership. Le Petit Lion du Marquis de Las Cases is the official second wine of Château Léoville Las Cases.
30 seconds can be enough to find out if a wine is outright awful, but it is not enough to score a 100p wine… no way… whole bottle reviews is almost a must if you´re going to judge wines on the upper scale….
John awesome video really enjoyed it. Just starting to get into Bordeaux wine and enjoying the wine. We took a trip there about a year ago and loved the area. Drank some fabulous wines from around $15 to $30. You are my kind of Somm! 😎🥂
One of the great things about Bordeaux reds is that you can drink part of a bottle, and simply stick the cork in what’s left, and the wine will still be good (sometimes better) the next day or two, without a CoraVin, without refrigeration, without special closures or treatments. New world wines, and other grape varieties, will usually not hold up nearly as well.
