Hi folks, apologies if this is not the most appropriate sub, but I wanted to know how I can get rid of the gold branding on my towel ring without ruining the matte black paint.

The high contrast really ruins the look, so I wanted to remove the paint and retain a clean matte black look. I can feel it with my nail, and trying to scratch it out seems possible, but that might affect the black paint underneath. Will nail polish remover/rubbing alcohol do the job? Appreciate any inputs or suggestions, thanks!

  1. Painting over it seems a better option. Matching blacks will be the tough part. And even if you do match it closely you may still see some relief of the lettering afterward.

Pretty annoying to place a logo there. I’d sand it off and repaint the whole thing if it were mine. But I’m the spray paint queen so…

Contact the company to find out what the black and gold finishes are made of.

Maybe acetone? Try it on an inconspicuous place first to make sure it wouldn’t take up the black paint.

Paint. If that doesn’t look good then get round stickers for wood furniture online and try to find one matching big enough to cover the logo. Those are the only options I think!
