We need more prep space in our tiny kitchen. So we’ve added this table temporarily to get used having something in the kitchen to see if it would work for the space. The table is 48×24. But based on my measurements of when the dishwasher door is open and needing 36” of walking space between “island” and the dishwasher door being open, we need a 36×24” table.
Swipe to see the pic I asked AI to make. I asked for a shorter table but ChatGPT couldn’t get it right. We want it to be open under the island, due to the small space we thought open would visually be better and we want to get quartz to match our counters (we added these counters last summer). So that’s what AI made for us.
I don’t want to buy a kitchen cart and I want it to look intentional and not an after thought. I want it to match the kitchen AND be moveable.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Please don’t mind the Easter eggs and baskets. I took this on Easter. Also, we have freed up some space on the counter since this bit not enough for me and hubby to be in kitchen cooking/packing lunches at the same time.

More like a peninsula. If it were me I’d buy cabinets to match or compliment so I have that extra storage as well.
I feel you on the lack of counter space. I feel you so hard.
Having an island is a great idea, but instead of putting it directly against that wall so that it obstructs the kitchen, rotate it 90° so that it’s truly an island. You’re going to want the space to navigate.
