Enjoyed at Daigo in Tokyo.

Daigo is known for its traditional Buddhist cuisine, so I knew we wanted a Brunello for later in the day, but started on this wine, which was a surprising recommendation from the chef/sommelier.

But I'm all for trying wine from all corners of the globe, so gave this a shot.

50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Tannat.

Gave this a decant and drank over 90 minutes.

This was surprisingly enjoyable and complex.

Dark plum, blackberry, and plum skins.

Also dark chocolate, cinnamon, haldi (turmeric), cut grass from yesterday (versus fresh cut lawn).

Still young, doesn't drink mature. Nice acidity as well.

91 points.
