So, I bought a Billy bookcase to better organize my things, but I'm not sure how to arrange it. At home, they tell me the middle shelf shouldn't go. In the photo of the moved shelf, I thought about putting a small side table to the left and some pictures. Any ideas?

it’s hard to tell what else is going on with the wall. if ikea weren’t so hard to paint, I would say paint it match the existing shelves to the right of that column thing.
my preference would be to push the shelves to the right and hang some art between the door and the shelves. but more importantly, I wouldn’t put anything on top of the billy. that way the top is close to being on level with the door and gives you a nice horizon.
