If you see this wine, buy it. I enjoyed it at Enoteca Pitti e Gola in Florence. The 2019 vintage is a great one with intensity and structure. It shows in this wine, which is great now but built for long aging. An intense red cherry core is matched by firm tannin and acid, and finishes long on the palate with perfect balance and already many layers of complexity. It was during dinner so i didn’t take notes but i recall blood orange, oregano, turned earth, tobacco, wet granite, lilac. Wine is much better than my notes.
This is another cool northern Montalcino producer so it has that aromatic lift that Le Chiuse has, but it also has some riper fruit from lower giving it density. Interestingly and confusingly, its main vineyard is referred to as Le Chiuse di Sotto, but no relation to the Le Chiuse estate.
