If it were my staircase, I’d personally put those big Ramadan-inspired lanterns (for the colours) that you can put on the floor. Either a big lone one or a set of three in various sizes.
Look up large lanterns, or Ramadan lanterns (it’s not actually a religious ornament, it’s just now popular around this time, so you’ll probably find some nice ones).
