We had a Juliette balcony at our house but it was useless. In the winter you would open the front door and -40 temps would flow up and rush upstairs.
I decided to close it up – the area that was closed was 8 feet by 5 feet. In the Foyer we finally got a fill ceiling. Cost $9200 to make it a loft + 2300 to furnish it. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Here are the before and area… useable living space wins!

This is what everyone who has one of these stupid balconies should do. I have one and I would gain almost 500sq ft if I did this. You did a great job and it looks gorgeous!
