I'm moving into a new townhouse and my style is very mid-century modern–leaning. For example, I’m doing all Eames plastic-molded side chairs around my dining table.

I’m picking up two chairs from Marketplace tomorrow—both CB2 iron chairs—and I’m getting a really good deal on them. I’d like to think they’re really nice chairs.

Here’s the thing: the black chair never had a cushion, and the brown one should, but the seller doesn’t have it. What do y’all think? Should I have a cushion made? Just for the seat, or for the back as well? I was also thinking about draping a sheepskin throw over the chair.

For context, the brown chair sits lower than the black one. These will go on either side of a sofa in front of a built-in, modern-looking gas fireplace, with a wall-mounted TV above it.

The last pictures aren't my unit—they are from some model units—but it gives a general sense of the space. My unit is still under construction, so it will be a little different.

Yes, add a simple, tailored seat cushion not a back cushion) to keep the mid century look clean, and if you want extra warmth, casually drape a sheepskin over just one chair.
