📍 Fair Haven Oyster Co in New Haven // Seafood // The dining room of this seafood + oyster bar is intimate feels like a cozy little secret tucked away on the shore of the Quinnipiac River.
📍 The Shipwright’s Daughter in Mystic // Modern New England cuisine // We’ve only been once but the food and the dining room is beautiful and romantic with some rustic nautical touches. We love their focus on sustainability, and the chef has won a James Beard award and is a semifinalist in 2026.
📍 Puente American-Latino Pub in Unionville // Awesome cocktails. Awesome food. (Get the Arroz con Bacon. Trust us.) We were drawn to this fusion restaurant because the owners are an interracial Puerto Rican and white couple like we are. We had to try it! The theme of their restaurant is about bridges (“puente”)—connecting people, experiences, cultures, and food. One of our faves!
📍 Zohara Mediterranean Kitchen in West Hartford // This place blew us away! The drinks and all the food were incredible. A great spot to go with a small group for the sharing menu.
📍 Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse in West Hartford // We love to go local as much as possible, but this chain makes the list because we were really impressed with the service and the food. Rich is a steak aficionado, and this took the top spot away from his previous favorite.
📍 Arethusa al tavolo in Bantam (Litchfield) // New American // It’s been a couple of years since we were here, but the service and food were excellent and really stick out in our memories.
📍 Union League in New Haven // This French restaurant near Yale is classic and elegant. Beautiful location, excellent food and service.
📍 Fresh Salt in Old Saybrook // This is one to save for summer! The waterfront seating is a vibe, and the quality of the food matches the beauty.
