Journey to the Château, Ep. 358 – In this episode, Patrick and Stuart meet up with friends Tony, Jane, Gary and Jojo to attend a Salon des Antiquaires in the French town of Menetou-Salon. This is their third year of attending this annual shopping event with their friends. Patrick also works on the repair, restoration and painting of the door that they have selected to use for the previously abandoned north wing of the chateau.

I liked the Wedgwood collector plate. The price was ridiculously high. 👎

And the award for the most professional videographer of antique stores goes to – Journey to the Chateau ! Loved it thank you.
Stuart, you land on so many wonderful things. I saw so many beautiful faience pieces.
You lingered on a lovely chair that I fancied.
I saw a surprisingly large number of Wedgwood porcelain. I have a soft spot for that, especially Jasperware.
I really liked the Saint Louis Crystal, too. I don't get to see that often enough.
The miniatures were nice.
I didn't see notice prices on the items, but I'll take your word that everything was pricey. It's still fun to look. I find treasure in thrift stores regularly. My neighbor Kim found a Jean Paul Gaultier backpack for $2.50 at a local thrift store.
Last week I bought a Henredon leather armchair with brass casters for $22.50 at one of my favorite for-profit chain stores.
It's the same store where I've found all of my Baccarat crystal, a Val Saint Lambert pitcher for $6.75, and eight 5-piece place settings of Vera Wang for Wedgwood for $27. The original store price tags were still on them. How did they miss that?
I rarely leave empty handed.
Well enough bragging. Thanks for bringing us along.
❤ from TX!
Stuart, the openings are getting better and better! The music and imagery suit each other so much. You'll have a collection showing the beauty of the chateau, garden and surroundings for the entire year soon. It's a really enjoyable way to start your posts. Patrick, one of the things I've noticed about some restorations, including this door, is that the surfaces don't have to be perfect. They're old things recycled, accepted as old and as long as reasonable care is taken, it doesn't have to be perfect. That's so refreshing and reasonable. I love it! It certainly is an attitude that makes life more easy going and enjoyable. Of course, there are other things you've finished that are impeccable. It's not a criticism at all, just a new understanding of how items are treated. Thank you both for sharing your life in France with us. I for one am learning so much!
Your dogs are gorgeous, such perfect faces! The door is going to look so nice. Great job so far
Stuart and Patrick, another great video. Lovely intro music!
Those of us who love antiques all have stories of the ones that got away. But often, especially if you obsess on beautiful things as I do, you can focus on finding a piece like one that eluded your grasp. Now you know you want those scales, and another will find you, trust me. You are so fortunate to still have things in bloom. Temperatures plummeted here, and all my late roses turned to poop, along with the hydrangeas, etc. etc. The restored doorway is gong to be lovely, your projects inspire me to get going on mine! Thanks!
❤
The Wedgwood bi-centennial plate at 270 euros – The online price e-bay for same piece c. 25usd – (50usd including the first states plate as well)- I think the stall holder has a way so inflated view of the value …
Loved coming around with you guys, the door looks great sending lv ❤️❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
It looked quite expensive that antiques place
If you upholster as well as you do, you can do anything you have a mind to. You are so very talented! The first step is to get past the doubt, gather all your materials, Determine a plan and then Start!!!
I want to registet a formal complaint. I am a primarily youtube listener, I listen to people ranting about politics, book reviews and reportages while I am doing chores.
However gour videos are too pretty and I have to stop and watch.
All that to say I blame you for my pile of dirty dishes 😂
You have many adorable supervisors!😂
The door looks great.
Lovely antique market. So many beautiful things. ❤
Love watching here in Ontario Canada.
That was lovely, and what an antique store! Loved that you could hear the storks in the background, they must still be migrating.
I get homesick for the Chateau and you both while watching the vlogs❤ Love to see all the work being done, can’t wait to see you both again next year!
You once again provided the perfect music for the opening Stuart, then as Patrick worked his magic on restoring the door, again, the appropriate music! I love going antique shopping with you two, you always teach us something!
Patrick, how would you ever get anything done without all of your furry supervisors?? 🙂 Nice video.
I could so settle in rural France, ah to dream and live vicariously through your beautiful vlogs, together with your lovely friends. Thank you for another enjoyable outing. I'm loving that door too. ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉
Gien right off the bat 😂❤ Patrick rockin the man bun, looks great, i love it! So many, many wonderful things there. I felt like every new table i was like ill take that, no that…etc….😂 fabulous
Jane looks beautiful!
I can’t believe you still have flowers blooming. The drone shots are stunning ❤❤❤❤❤Love seeing your four supervisors helping with the renovation of the door. Great job so far 😍😘
Quite surprised to see the English Staffordshire Dogs pair in France😊. Some beautiful antique coffee cans that would have come home with me.
We really enjoyed our day out and Jojo's wonderful lunch was superb as always xx
I love brocanting with you. There were so many beautiful items, probably nothing I could afford. I do love that you opened up the old doorway and will fit a door that was in the chateau there. You show so much love for your chateau. Ronnie in Saskatchewan
The door is looking fantastic! When you go antiquing could you give us some information about the items while you are looking at them? To see all the items on a table and not know any history or info is not very enjoyable to us, love your opening music! Well done!❤
❤
I know I have mentioned this before, but your dogs are so characterful and beautiful. ❤
I love Stewart's red rim glasses! He is a happening guy!!!
