Thank you, Hane, for sharing your meals
Took me a second to remember that you don't have your lovely wood cookstove to cook your meals. "Why is Jane using residual heat?" ha ha. I'll bet you don't miss the work involved with firewood. Your meals look scrumptious as always.
👍👍👍
❤❤
Dolly & Mary, how are you girls liking your new home? Are you finding good places to walk and meet new people? I'm surre mom & dad have extra time for walks since there is less acreage to care for, despite having tasks to take care of like figuring out the new pellet stove (so you girls are toasty wzrm this winter)and windows/doors. Hugs from the US!
In my baked ziti, I use less ground beef, and I add a cup of cooked red lentils into it. I get an extra serving out of it and it tastes quite good. I barely know it's there.
As usual your meals look delicious and healthy. Homemade is sooooo good. Thanks for sharing and have a good day!😊💙🇨🇦
Your meals look delicious! I always try to have s few meals in the freezer for those busy days. Thanks for sharing. Have a good week!
Once again, your meals are colorful and look delicious! Love cottage pie and never thought to put lentils in. Thanks again, Jane & Mike!

You cook just like I do. We’re retired Brits living in Arizona. Cottage pies for us today and one in the freezer. Really enjoying your news from the south of France
You are a great improviso cook. Tell you a great recipe for vegetarian/vegan spaghetti Bolognese. Fried red lentils in olive oil with onions and garlic and then tomatoes liquified. Add water to get desired thickness and then herbs if you like. Serve with pasta and grated cheese on top is lovely 😍. You make me feel hungry. And I adore your little Brissons at the end.😮!
Air fryer time n $ saver 🎉🎉🎉
Do you snack or have desserts?
Ooh, I love the leftover salmon and potatoes at 3.0 "crustless quiche" idea in the air fryer – looks so yummy and such a great idea for leftovers.
I always get the more economical ground beef and then after I've cooked it, I put it in a metal strainer and rinse it with boiling water. And I usually cook at least 2 lbs at one time and divide into half pound portions and freeze the cooked meat. So easy to defrost and use later.
Veg lentil soup – YUM! I can smell it right through the computer! You're getting your freezer stocked up again.
If I make a dish that will feed me and my husband for two meals I like to split it up by serving something different between the two meals so we’re not eating the same thing two days in a row.
Thar's how I cook. Saves loads of money and time to do other things. I buy bags of bacon bits & fry some chopped for my lentil & veg soup. Just harvested a kilo of borlotti beans for winter.
Yum, so many tasty looking dishes. Great for those busy days.
1 Kilo = 2.2 lbs so you were correct that 1/2 Kilo is about 1.1 lbs
Hello Jane and Mike, such healthy meals. I never knew you could put cottage pie in the airfryer! Very useful to know. Many thanks. Happy weekend 😊
Yummy!! Did you get another freezer? 😊
I think your cottage pie is what I call Shepherd's pie. Everything looks so tasty. Love the pots and pans. Did they come with the house?
❤❤❤❤❤
We were just in Scotland and were shocked at how expensive it is to eat out. Luckily it was only once per day. Totally agree that making homemade meals can save you a fortune.
Lovely meals! I add caramelized onions to my mince in my cottage pie to give it extra flavour. I then add the small pieces from the top of my garden peppers ( I freeze my peppers in slices to use in sauce and pizza but always have the small pieces from the top that I keep for cottage pie in a different small bag.) as well as carrots, celery and red lentils . The next layer is creamed corn and regular frozen corn and then my mash is always a mixture of root veggies. Like you I eat it as is and maybe have a salad if I happen to need to use up salad greens before they go bad. Hope you had warm weather we are getting a beautiful weekend and I am still harvesting green beans, tomatoes and peppers from the gardens as well as various herbs! Have a lovely weekend.
You are my favorite channel!!!
Love your videos regards Helen from Australia, and please be frugal in your own way, no need to turn vegetarian or freeze to save money
I have some veggies roasting in the oven and ground beef patties trying out some of my new no salt seasoning mixes on each one. Busy day watching grandkids so something easy.
I’m going to be making a huge batch of chilli this weekend in my slow cooker. Pack of beef and pork mince from Aldi, bulked up with some lentils and some frozen grated marrow gifted to me from a friend’s allotment (it was enormous 🤣). And of course kidney beans and all the flavourings to make it rich and spicy (including some red wine and dark chocolate). It’ll make a good twelve portions so plenty for the freezer. 😀
Is this Shoestring Janes new channel
Red wine vinegar in lentil soup is delicious too. Food looks nice
My frugal dinner tonight was hot dogs with carrots and green beans
Budget stretching is such an unfair term for really tasty recipes. ❤❤❤ I was raised on these types of recipes. 😂❤
Hi Dolly. Hi Mary. Your meals looked delicious. You'd never know you are using a budget with those!
I always find your meals and batch cooking so inspiring!
Did you add coconutmilk to the soup – it looks so creamy ? I think I will adopt this idea to my cooking, thanks !
I like your stovetop with the big central burner! my corner bakery sells day-old goods in a plastic bag for 2 euros; yesterday i bought one that had: little croissant, little pain au chocolat, little pain au raisin; big pain au lait and 2 brioche. this will give us breakfast for 3 days plus extras. They also offer "2good2go" where they sell a meal plus baked goods for a reduced price. I haven't tried this yet as we are fairly picky about dinner…. You may find your bakery also offers this (online signup). YOur meals looked great as always.
'Do Mary and Dolly ever get a share of the cottage pie?' (Asking for my dogs, Onion and Zanny.)
Such lovely meals! I was able to purchase Chicken breasts for $1.99 lb. , which is considered a good price. I will be packaging up tin portions for the freezer this morning. It is a good thing I like lentils.
👏👏👏
Thank you again. Did I notice that your cook top is a five burner with four smaller burners and one large one?
As usual I love the way you make ur food stretch and I picked up a few tips along the way. But I couldn’t quite catch ur sorta salmon quiche. Did u put the ingredients in a bowl first to mix it up then in a skillet to make the quiche? 😊
Thank you both x
I love the way you cook meals you can eat twice. Wonderful some days not to have to cook and to reheat a meal from the fridge or freezer.
Hi just wondering Jane, and not a criticism, do you have breakfast at all?
Handy containers!
Delicious meals you made.❤
Délicieux !
All your meals look tasty. I never thought to cook cottage pie in the air fryer. That will come in very handy in the summer when it is too hot to want to use the oven. Thanks for sharing.
