I knew that Colonel Lund was uh one of the greatest characters I’ve ever written and one of the greatest characters I will ever write one of the things about his character that’s one of the most striking things is he’s obviously a linguistic genius well the thing about language for example this guy speaks several languages and on what level does he communicate you know is language like something that creates uh reality is language something that adapts to a reality I started casting actors and I wasn’t finding anybody who quite had every everything that I needed a hundred percent did I called the producers and said if we can’t find the right launda I’d rather just publish this script and do something else I was really really interested in what’s behind the lines there is so much in this person’s mind the day that Kristoff came walked in the room sat down and read two scenes go we’re making a movie

  1. I mean the catalog of requirements was quite long for this role😅 English of course, fluent in german and french, and able to peform italian for 3-4 lines of dialogue. Not to forget the abilitys of an actor to play this genius evil character.

  2. I honestly loved christoph and hated brad pitt in inglorious basterds.
Brad pitt's comedy was top notch but some of his scenes were bland
Christoph performance convinced me to watch this movie

  3. In order to make a work of art, you need artists. Christopher Waltz understood what Tarantino was doing and tried to get in the head of the character.

  4. I think it really shows how Landa's character arc was based on his Linguistics skills than his position as a colonel of the SS. He embodied each and every Language he speaks that in the end he didn't show loyalty to the third reich but only to himself for he is a no-man's land as the only character in the series to know the culture and history of each language he speaks. Even Apache has to cheat and get court martialed because they technically wasn't able to beat Landa.

  5. That guy was great in his role. Because I could not tell you the name of the movie. But got angry as soon as he started to speak. 😅 He is one of those bad guys that you don't like in the real world 😂

  6. Christoph waltz, made this movie great. His ability to play the character was amazingly real and all the nuances were gripping. To me he stole the show in a great way.

  7. Landa was so Natzi narsacist as you would expect a Nazti to be, which is perfect.

  8. Well my friends, if you want to know how Christopher Waltz looks at the beginning of his career, take a walk to memorie lane and watch all seasons of KOMISSAR REX back in 1994 here in you tube, and then come back here and tell me what you really think…🇲🇽✌😎

  9. No doubt Landa is the greatest, but let's not forget about Robert Forster as Max Cherry in Jackie Brown. The levels surrounding such little said can only be experienced by viewing the performance. I always thought that character, as a bail bonds man, could link up so many other characters in Tarantino's gangster movies.
