Ah, French bread, the epitome of crusty, airy deliciousness! French bread, particularly the iconic baguette, can be traced back to the early 19th century.
Legend has it that the baguette as we know it today emerged around the 1920s when advances in technology allowed for the mass production of bread. Prior to this, bread in France was typically round or oval-shaped. I went with the Pre-Industrial Revolution shaping for this bake because of what I wanted to use it for.
