Hello and welcome back to my channel I’m Rebecca Robeson and I have got a great video for you today we’re going to cover design Styles I’m so excited to introduce to you one that’s new to me and it’s called modern Parisian so black and white here we go if I didn’t know better I’d say that’s a French Kiss the key to Modern Parisian is to mix the oldw world French style with today’s more modern furniture pieces it is such a glorious look so let’s talk about the details and the specifics of modern Parisian Parisian style is refined elegant glamorous and collected adding a beautiful nostalgic feel and character

To the home the aim is to create a dialogue between the past and the present where furniture and decor reflect both the individual’s personal style and the richness of their history the feeling I get in a modern Parisian space is opulence and wealth I that’s

Just what I feel however you can add a modern Parisian look to your home no matter what and you can do it yourself and save yourself a lot of money and then create the foundation for what could go on to be a modern Parisian home typically these homes are all white

Glorious Parisian style flooring paret hardwood floors are foundational to this style light to Mid to dark stains are all appropriate depending on the look that you’re after for a touch of French Whimsy consider adding black and white tiles in a checkered pattern to highlight a kitchen a powder room or an

Entryway it’s very French here’s the French with your case goods use vintage pieces where the patina of age and the marks of use are to be cherished these pieces can be scattered about in the form of chests sideboards and various tables whether it be end tables a kitchen prep table or

Even a hallway console or credenza here’s the modern contemporary upholstered pieces provide simpler cleaner lines which may be angular and streamlined or soft and curvaceous on occasional chairs and sofas now add to that gilded and Luxe marble tables creating visual contrast and balance between the old and the New the types of fabrics that you’re going to want to use in a modern Parisian style include Sumptuous velvets heavy Belgian linen brocade silk embellished throws and satin cushions or even a needle point cushion or pillow which will add a beautiful sense of History in order to get that luxury look so coveted by the modern Parisian style your area rugs should be oversized hand knotted and in a neutral color and design which will lay a Sumptuous foundation for your gorgeous room consider one for maybe placing under a seating area in a living room or family

Room or lay one beneath the dining table now just a side note once you have your table in place and your chairs around it choose an area rug that will allow the rug to extend 32 in beyond the back legs of the chair so that your chairs can

Modern Parisian style homes are the moldings the artwork and definitely the lighting well Lighting in the mod Parisian style is focused on fixtures rather than recessed can lights they range from Modern statement pieces to French vintage Styles this is a perfect opportunity to play with the old and new

Thoughtfully mixing styles to create a one-of-a-kind fabulous look that reflects you just for fun I’ve created two design boards with various lighting selections one is more traditional and perhaps expected with the Vintage Vibes to the French style the other is a more curated mix of contemporary modern and vintage all

Coordinated with purpose in mind I selected an oversized chandelier made with hundreds of yards of chain this creates a dramatic focal point which could be used in the center of a seating area to create a glamorous and dramatic effect from there I chose vintage and spired scones which I think coordinate

Very well with the hanging fixture a black shade on a pair of modern table lamps the final one is an absolutely awesome cleaned lined picture light to mount on a piece of art would complete a classy well-lit room pulling these things together and putting them all on

One page helps me get a feel for what my room would look like window treatments are super important to include in a modern Parisian style room they add height opulence and SC scrumptious texture to a room made of Rich silk perhaps tafida or billowing satin timeworn damis and silk

Brocade which by the way is a decorative fabric with raised woven design resembling embroidery another option is high quality washed linen as these window treatment M ments can soften the space I like to use them especially in bedrooms they should be generous in volume and puddle on the floor now hang

Them on beautiful brass gild or handcarved wooden rods and finals which will add to the luxury and opulence of a modern Parisian style Home here is where you turn up the modern part this is where you might have a bold strong Rich Jewel toned painting that’s more abstract mostly it’s big oversized large paintings that have bold Strokes of color the use of black and white sketches these faces you see this one

Two 3 4 now that has a more contemporary look and I think you could easily use it in a contemporary home but it also bod as well for the modern Parisian look so black and white here we go abstracts are always a great look tasteful nudes are

Also appropriate as well after all it is French iconic to the modern Parisian style is oversized gleaming gold gilded mirrors ranging from Modern and structural in form to antique or ornate and time worn a beautiful gold mirror is an absolute must if this is your style Choice obvious use is of course above a fireplace but I’ve seen them as

Headboards behind a bed and of course sat on the floor leaning against the wall which is one of the looks I really Love besides the mirrors modern Parisian artwork is like every other category that we’ve discussed already ready it can create a dialogue between the past and the present you could use oil paintings even an overscale mural of Old World scenes adding to the refinement and the Elegance the modern Parisian style leans

More to the minimalist side than the maximalist I think that’s due in large part to the elaborate nature of the foundation of the design style now I’m referring to the Exquisite moldings on the wall and the ceilings not to mention the heavily embellished gold mirrors and framed art pieces given that Foundation

Keeping your accessorizing to a few well-appointed pieces will balance the space and not take it over the top use interesting vases shapes are very important Stone sculptures Greek or French busts and figurines of the human form consider this if you’ve added black and white tile to to your design

Anywhere in your home the use of black and white accessory pieces can be a good element as a way to repeat a matter creating a subtle connection from room to room adding beautiful accents like throws throw pillows to your sofa and bed it’ll give you an opportunity to

Introduce color whether it’s subtle or bold that extra layer of texture and luster will add a lot to your space Crystal vases with fresh blooms throughout your home will give it a warm and welcoming [Applause] Feel I got a little treat for you yesterday I toured a home here in Tulsa huge mansion style home when I walked in I saw something and guess what we got the cameras rolling this will explain to you modern Parisian probably better than anything else I can say

My real Mike Keys allowed me to go to some homes here in Tulsa which I have been showing you throughout this entire video series today we’re talking about modern Parisian now on this little tour we went on we came to a house that’s not

Too far from where I live it is a very wellone mix of styles that the homeowner did in this home and there are things in the living room that speak very modern Parisian to me so I thought I’d bring you in here and point out those things

Now not everything in the room fits that style and since this is about modern Parisian I’m going to point out the things that fit in that style I think this rug is beautiful it has this free flowing shape to it that’s geometric it has a a bit of a rise pile

To it and the gold mixed with the gray is the charcoal is just really really yummy looking and very sophisticated and then you have things like this beautiful white fireplace that’s got all of the beautiful carving on it This lends itself very well to this look of modern

Parisian because it’s about the woodwork that has been painted white what they’ve done over here instead of painting the walls white is they’ve used this beautiful metallic wallpaper a very large remember I told you a very large abstract piece of art and this one has got all of the plums

It’s not the black and white modern Parisian this is more of the subdued Hues that make such a yummy very upscale look and because this is so large it’s perfect I mean gosh that’s a really that’s a really beautiful painting I love it this is a detail you usually do

Not see in a sofa you often see what they call a tea cushion meaning this comes out like this and then it’s cut like that you know what I’m talking about it kind of comes around this is recessed into this and then it is cut out on the arm isn’t that like amazing

And then of course it has modern Legs most sofas you know they have cushions and then this is a matching cushion and they all separate like that when you do it as a bench seat it’s one long cushion it gives a very upscaled look which fits perfect into modern Parisian these are on rings and an oil

Rub bronze Rod but this fabric I believe it’s linen and then it has a velvet cut velvet geometric pattern to it that when put in the pleated style look how beautifully that just all lines up and looks so classy and beautiful and they’ve got these window treatments the right length cuz

They just kiss the floor there you go if I didn’t know better I’d say that’s a French kiss the modern Parisian theme and style carries on into the dining room with this Rich beautiful like a blue charcoal color paint on the wall it is a smooth finish wall with a matte finish paint

Makes such a glorious statement and the light fixture over this dining table is Morano glass from the house of venini very very upscale amazing I mean if you want to make a statement and that’s the thing about modern Parisian you can make statements with your art and with your

Light fixtures and gosh you can make a statement with just about anything here’s what really sets it apart the 12in base molding and 10-in crown molding in fact that might even be 12 it is pretty spectacular ESP especially in a room like this where you see it

Against a darker paint color a more traditional modern Parisian would be all white but I think this looks really really good so it’s a beautiful room and look there’s a fireplace in the dining room how special and of course this is a Parisian looking gold gilded mirror just
