Hi folks, happy to share a sneak peek, actually it’s more than a peek, an immersive preview of our upcoming Gourmet On The Road Chennai series. It had been a while since we visited the Tamil Nadu capital and so we made it count! From visiting fabled decades-old culinary traditions to conversations with iconic personalities and also looking at how Chennai is attempting to push the boundaries of gastronomy. There’s plenty in this upcoming series, from streetside to fine dining, and everything in between.
Hope you enjoy this watch. Stay tuned for Gourmet On The Road, Chennai. Take care; stay safe and strong. Happy eating!

Namaskara folks or should I be saying W come because we are in Chennai well Chennai loves its Biryani wantu M Biryani Oru chicken biryani 65 but tell me why do people in Chennai love the Biryani so much I think it’s just one full meal you have your meat you have your rice and then it comes with uh brenol and Raita you know what’s nice is that the rice even to the touch feels very light and also is a sort where every grain every grain of the rice is separate and hit so on the flavor department so people said that when you come to CH M I love the stickiness of that crust what road was important not ay shop but I know cheers nonetheless that medicinal flavor of the sill sill goes very well with the lemon that’s it coconut FRS we apply this T shop style Masala then we grill it some
Lobster this is a mutton roast mutton coconut Fry I love that sweet saline nature of the CR the CRS are soft almost a bit springy and when you get to the prawn then you’re also tasting the toastiness of that Coconut so this is a whole new take on eating fried fish so on the outside you have that very fried sort of a texture but on the inside it’s more steamy well today was one of those days when I had a big lunch so for dinner I wanted to eat
Something like something vegetarian mats Avatar is the first avatar of of Vish the hotel is called udipi home Udi home yeah so the restaurant is called Matsa so this is a Ras again smell the aroma of that Masala we make the Rasam we add little bit of ghe finally we have some magic portion on those lines so it quite reminds me of taru exactly but what I feel is that in this your Masala is a little more
Poent we are in Ana nagar I’m told that is Ana nagar East and this is West so we are here to explore some meaty Fair more specifically some kongunadu Fair hello namaskaram so this is Mr prau okay he’s one of the founder head of M what is that GRE friy
Oh that’s a brain fry par yeah and this is nly gravy you know I’m already making a note of dishes that I want to taste when on the table well this is certainly a hot ped of action Absolutely This is what goes into the cooking basically okay so this is the pan Masala this is the mutton Masala M kuki Masala the palip pal Masala chicken Kaa Masala the lemon Masala I think this has captured the innermost warmth or the innermost soul of the chicken in a suit good to see you
It’s been like what ages 17 years ago 2006 at the Taj Western Taj West corre Prince of Wales Lawn yes yes we’re meeting after that after that we’re meeting now 17 years well so I know chef venkatesh but as a chef in bangaluru The menu has been curated by me this is about 2 and2 years old now most of the events happening here is the 80th birthday 50th wedding anniversary my party used to make this dish so that’s why I came here that’s the type of clientele we have it’s the people who do
Not have a choice of having original vegetarian Food and this is another speciality of mine the lamb Trot same recipe but with drumstick what rice is that P Cur leaf yeah fantastic this also is a very different Biryani Amur Biryani made withar so so with the tomato paste with the red chilies and all of That thank you for your very kind invitation to what promises to be uh One of a Kind experience starting of a beautiful experience but I want it to happen all over the country I want to put India as The Culinary capital of the world I want to bring the world to India
To experience such talent wonderful that’s the only Mission wonderful only Mission well have you seen something like this a table that’s 156 ft long can seat over 100 on one single table this is truly Amazing there’s a curry that’s an O to the Ki Curry which is the yesterday’s Curry I’m not sure if this is the skin of the fish I Know so there’s just a kiss of warmth there but what you’re tasting more is the sweet pulpy acidity of the Tomato the fish to is nice and Flaky and it’s seasoned rather well on the inside M you come on onam day you get a
Sadya you come on a Pongal day you get a good Pongal to eat you come and have only coffee in the evening they’ll give you Sund I still remember what Mr Sur told me the last time around I don’t need to go to the temple much because my gods are here
So every day I meet my gods Allah you 37 38 years 39th year 39th Year from 85 yes Sir CH Correct so the other interesting thing out here is that uh Mr sur’s parent roots are in urpi but he spent a lot of time in Kerala and then of course Tamil Nadu is home so the food also that you see here has influences from across the
State so this is a normal lunch Tamil Nadu meals Tamil Nadu meals fantastic so well we are in chenai and when it comes to the southe equivalent of the ubiquitous chicken Tia of the North well it’s a chicken 65 and we are here at the spot where that chicken 65 was first
Made was first invented in the year 1965 it’s always nice when you walk into an e that you are not very familiar with and the first thing that touched your lips reassures you that you’ve made the right selection Well I think time to keep aside the samsa chai and the remnant of the bun butter jam and focus on what’s in front of us the chicken 65 the chicken 90 and the mutton Biryani if you’d like to support the work that we do at Food Lovers TV do consider joining our
