Ingredients
A pie is a great way to use up what I have in the fridge and freezer. The bacon and cheese is optional and I have made a chicken pie without that but as I had a small amount of lardons/cut up fatty bacon I used it up.
Gluten free shortcrust pastry recipe. 250g of gluten free flour – I always buy gluten free bread flour. 1/4 teaspoon of xanthum gum, pinch of salt, 130g cold butter, 1 medium egg beaten and add a few tablespoons of cold water. There is never an exact amount of water that I can give you. It’ll depend on your flour, your air temperature and your egg.
For regular pastry. 250g of regular flour, pinch of salt, 130g of cold butter.
