A chance conversation with students at his eatery, Nisarga Grand in Bengaluru, five years ago led Krishnaraja SP to offer free dosae to them if they exercised their civic duty and voted! Since then, this humble restaurateur has offered free dosae to anyone who walks into his restaurant on election day and shows their inked finger. I stepped into his eatery too, having exercised my franchise, to avail of a free benne khali dosae, mysore pak and juice this year. In doing so, I learnt of the challenges he faced this year, and also the fact he was foregoing most of his normal business on election day to cater to voters, over 5,000 of them!
