Did you notice the recent price drop for JUST eggs? They used to be SO expensive, but can now be found for ~$3.99/bottle. At 8 servings per bottle, it still cost as much as premium organic eggs, but is starting to be worth it for the convenience – just pour and scramble, cooking doesn’t get much easier. How does it taste? Not as depressing as I thought! The texture (when not overcooked) is surprisingly close to a good soft scramble. The flavor, while not “bad” per se, is less spot-on. If you’re a fan of delicate, buttery french style scrambled eggs, this won’t work as replacement. But if you’re ok with cafeteria/buffet-style breakfast eggs, this is marginally better. It doesn’t have the “eggy” flavor imo, but has a lot of chicken-brothy flavor (which makes sense from its ingredient list, which has much of the flavor additives of commercial chicken broth). Pair this with chives or scallions, and it’s almost good enough to trick some. I would save the truffle stuff though, this isn’t the delicate canvas that real eggs are when it comes to pricier premium ingredients.
