French fishermen have not been able to fish the waters around Jersey as the crown dependency rejected licences for “many French fishermen”.
Fisheries were one of the main issues in the Brexit trade agreement with French President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Boris Johnson refusing to move from their positions for months.
It comes as Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said the UK was putting £100million into fisheries to help boost the sector post Brexit.
It comes as the Brexit trade deal comes into effect after months of wrangling over state aid, fisheries and the so called level playing field.
The deal was given a green light by both United Kingdom and European Union Parliaments after the PM and EU chiefs such as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and German Chancellor Angela Merkel agreed to the terms of the deal in order to avoid a no deal Brexit.
