Reading Terminal Market is a few blocks from the Philadelphia City Hall. It is one of the most popular spots in all of Philadelphia. Inside, there are several restaurants, bakeries, meat and fish markets, grocery stores, hardware and clothing stores and even a store that sells French linen. I spent a couple hours inside the market a week ago and filmed a few of my favorite stores inside the market.

The Reading Terminal Market is about a 10 minute walk from where I live. The Market is about two blocks from Philadelphia City Hall and about five blocks from Independence Mall (location of the Independence Hall, Liberty Bell and Independence Visitor Center). The market is also right next to Chinatown.

I love spending Saturday mornings at the market. There are a couple of places inside where I normally have brunch. For brunch my favorite places are Pearl’s Oyster Bar and Down Home Diner. Pearl’s Oyster Bar has very good seating available. There’s the Old City Coffee shop and The Famous 4th Street Cookie Company very close to the Oyster Bar.

There are many merchants from Lancaster County Pennsylvania who sell their products at the Reading Terminal Market. Many of them belong to the Amish community. You should definitely check out Glick’s Rib Shack – The Original Rib Stand, Miller’s Twist, Kauffman’s Lancaster Country Produce, Hatville Deli, The Grill Smuckers and Beiler’s Bakery. I also frequent the Halteman Family Meats and The Riehl Deli and Cheese Shops.

There are several restaurants inside the market. My favorites are Beck’s Cajun Cafe and Nanee’s Kitchen. Other popular spots are Molly Malloy’s, By George!, Tommy DiNic’s, Dutch Eating Place, Hunger Burger, Olympia Gyro and Sang Kee Peking Duck.

If you have some time, you should consider taking the guided tour of the market (It is called the Taste of Philly Food Tour). This tour typically lasts about 75 minutes. The market also has a room that you can book to conduct meetings or host a corporate event.
