Kirkland organic Madagascar vanilla beans are back at Costco! I’m using them to make homemade vanilla extract and planning to let it sit for a full year. Follow along to see how it turns out 👀

Would you make extract or use them for baking?

  1. Damn that’s a heck of a deal last time I bought vanilla beans it was like 18 bucks for a jar with three ass beans in it😮😢 also it’s better with bourbon instead used makers mark and it was amazing 👍

  2. How is this an infinite hack? Do you keep refilling the bottle with alcohol? When do you take the beans out?

  3. Put the bottle in a sous vide circulator at 130° and you can have your extract in four hours. Or if you want a really really deep extract a few days.

  4. Shout-out to ultrasonic cleaners, you can speed up the process by quite a bit using some vibes.

  5. just so you know tobacco doesn’t smell like that tobacco smells acrid ammonia like Vegetal and a lot of the time to mellow it down they use what’s called the casing which is sugar water, and a lot of the time one of the oldest things added to it is vanilla. I used to think the same thing but at the end of the day it’s just actually vanilla mixed with the tobacco smell makes that vanilla tobacco smell. I find the vanilla bean smell like vanilla and similar or reminiscent of almonds or cherries.

  6. I make vanilla extract with different vodka brands, rum, whiskey and other types of alcohol. I had like various bottles aged for 2+ years. Likely make more with different types of alcohol.
