🧅 Smothered French Onion Pork Chops & Stick-of-Butter Rice

A hearty, all-in-one casserole featuring seasoned pork chops smothered in roasted garlic cream of mushroom and baked right over rich, buttery French onion rice.

Ingredients

🧈 Butter Rice

* 2 cups uncooked white rice
* 1 can (10.5 oz) beef consommé
* 1 can (10.5 oz) French onion soup
* ⅓ cup chicken broth
* 1 stick (½ cup) butter, cut into cubes

🐖 Smothered Pork Chops

* 4–6 thin or thick-cut pork chops
* 1 can (10.5 oz) Cream of Mushroom with Roasted Garlic
* 2 tsp Kinder’s French Onion Seasoning
* 1 tsp smoked paprika
* 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
* 1 tsp garlic powder
* 1 tsp onion powder
* ½ tsp black pepper

🌿 Garnish

* Fresh chopped parsley

Instructions

1. Prepare the Rice

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Add 2 cups uncooked white rice to a large casserole dish.

Pour in:

* 1 can beef consommé
* 1 can French onion soup
* ⅓ cup chicken broth

Stir until well combined.

Cut the stick of butter into cubes and evenly distribute the butter pieces over the top of the rice mixture.

2. Season the Pork Chops

Combine the Kinder’s French Onion Seasoning, smoked paprika, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.

Season both sides of the pork chops evenly.

3. Smother the Pork Chops

Generously coat both sides of each seasoned pork chop with the Cream of Mushroom with Roasted Garlic.

4. Assemble

Nestle the coated pork chops directly on top of the butter and rice mixture.

Cover the casserole dish tightly with aluminum foil.

5. Bake

Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes, covered.

Remove the foil and continue baking uncovered for another 20 minutes.

Check the pork with a meat thermometer. Pork should reach 145°F in the thickest part.

If the rice still has excess liquid after the initial 20 minutes uncovered, continue baking at 350°F in 10–15 minute increments until the rice has absorbed the liquid and is tender.

Do not stir the rice while it is baking.

6. Rest & Finish

Remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for 10–15 minutes.

The rice will continue absorbing any remaining moisture as it rests.

Gently fluff the rice, then sprinkle fresh chopped parsley over the entire casserole.

Serve the pork chops alongside a generous scoop of the buttery French onion rice.

✨ Flavor Profile

Savory French onion, roasted garlic, smoky paprika, Cajun seasoning, onion powder, and buttery beef consommé rice come together for a rich, comforting one-dish meal.

One casserole dish. Juicy smothered pork chops. Buttery French onion rice. Minimal cleanup.
