TERAMOTO CHEF’S TABLE

I have been enjoying @taka_teramoto‘s cooking for years, probably since 2021 if memory serves me right. I celebrate the fact that he now has his very own chef’s table, named after himself, where he has fully unleashed his brand of Australian x Japanese x French cuisine. His flavours are very clean and subtle – sometimes no salt – but never lacking any flavour. For an Australian restaurant tasting menu, it is well designed, exceptionally executed and highly satisfying (no need for McDonald’s post-dinner at all). Taka-san has been a reliable go-to for many Sydney foodies whose palates I admire and respect, and sometimes I wonder if there’s a part of me wishing to keep things slightly under wraps, but I think Taka-san and Wanaka deserve widespread recognition and success.

TL;DR? You snooze, you lose. Btw, I’d very happily start a petition to have Teramoto move to Melbourne if necessary, because I know the city will embrace Taka-san. In a suffocating, queue for hours headlock; which would still be playful and endearing.

PSA: $238pp for now, but $270 from November 2026 onwards. Find @teramoto_sydney hidden at the back of @tera_surryhills in Sydney.
