One skillet French onion pasta
Easy, full of flavor and so delicious French onion pasta. If you like French onion soup, then you will love this version as well.
🔘Ingredients:
2tbsp (30g) butter
1tbsp (15ml) olive oil
4 large yellow onions (diced)
1 tsp (5g) sugar
1 tsp (5g) salt
12 oz(227g) cremini mushrooms (sliced)
3 large garlic cloves (minced)
1 1/2 tbsp (6g) flour
1tbsp (15ml) Worcestershire sauce
3 Fresh thyme
3 tbsp (45ml) Sherry Cooking wine
1 bay leaf
1 1/4 cup(100g) grated Gruyère (graded)
1/2 cup (43g) parmesan (graded)
10oz (280g) Orecchiette Pasta
2 1/4 cups (560ml) beef broth
2 cups (500ml) chicken broth
1/2 cup (125ml) water
🔘Prep and Cooking process:
Start by dicing all onions.
Heat Dutch skillet on medium heat and add butter with oil.
Add diced onions and stir.
Let onions slowly caramelize, it will take up to 30-40 min, stir every few minutes. This will help from sticking to the bottom.
Once onions caramelized add garlic and cook for 2 minutes.
Add sliced mushrooms, stir.
Add Worcestershire sauce, mix everything and add sherry cooking wine.
Let the wine soak, cook into mixture and evaporate.
Add flour, stir well.
Pour broth and water into a skillet, stir and add bay leaf and fresh thyme.
Let the mixture to start boiling and turn the heat low and let it simmer for 5 min.
Add pasta, stir well and close the lid to let the pasta cook through.
When the pasta will be al-dente and liquid will dissolve, add Gruyère and Parmesan cheeses.
Stir everything together and let the cheese to melt.
Sprinkle with more cheese and fresh thyme.
Serve and Enjoy while it’s still hot 😊
