I had brunch at Café François, an all-day French-style brasserie adjacent to Borough Market in London that’s tres bons in every department – good enough to please even the snootiest of French foodies.
The star of the show was the pain au chocolat for £6. So artfully formed you could hang it in the National Gallery.
Inside this miniature masterpiece was sinfully luxurious chocolate.
For my main, I opted for Eggs Benedict, which came with a Hollandaise Sauce so rich you could use it to open a numbered Swiss bank account.
The coffee, meanwhile, was sigh-inducingly smooth and the service pleasant and punctual.
I loved the décor, too, from the slatted timber banquettes to the terracotta cushions.
