One last BBQ to close out the season! It’s been a memorable summer filled with good food, laughter and great company. Cheers to everyone who made it such an enjoyable one. 🥂 And, of course… cheers to Team BBQ!

🇫🇷 DID YOU KNOW?
Cake salé is a French savory loaf rather than a sweet cake. It can be made with all sorts of fillings—cheese, olives, ham, bacon, vegetables and herbs—and is great served in slices for an apéritif, picnic or BBQ.

190 g flour
2 tsp baking powder
4 eggs
120 ml milk
¼ cup (60 ml) olive oil
100–120 g grated cheese
150 g diced cooked ham
75 g cooked lardons/bacon

½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper

Bake: 180°C for 45–55 minutes.

Optional: Some savory cake recipes include mustard for an extra kick, but I kept mine simple without it.

Did you know? 🔥
“Barbecue” and “grilling” aren’t technically the same thing. Grilling generally uses higher, direct heat for quicker cooking, while traditional barbecue usually means cooking food more slowly at lower temperatures, often with smoke.
“So technically… was our BBQ really a BBQ? 😂”
