Chateau Martinet is a property belonging to the Pradel de Lavaux family – in fact it is their family home. The estate here is very interesting as it and its near neighbour Chateau Quinault L’Enclos are slowly being engulfed buy the outskirts of Libourne. The soils here are a mixture of gravel and sand, a continuation of Saint Emilion’s Graves sub-region, these are the soils found at Chateau Figeac, Chateau Cheval Blanc and also accross the boundary into Pomerol at Chateau Lafleur. The wine is a well-made, rich Merlot-dominated style with plenty of ripe black-plum fruit and developed notes of prune and raisin.
