We just moved into a new house (excuse the boxes) and looking for what to do with the wall space on the right side (highlighted orange) .
This is the living room so behind me (not shown) is our sectional and TV/TV stand.
From left to right: Front door (not pictured), bookcase, window & vinyls, and then empty until you go through to the kitchen on the right.

A sitting area seems like a good idea but ultimately would be a waste. No one would sit there.

Any other ideas? Old owners had a dining table there but who wants to eat on the carpet in front of the front door?

Add a matching book case to compliment the one you already have

Hello, congrats on moving in. It’s hard to see the layout without an illustration. Where is the dining area now (dining table and buffet table), in this new set up? There are many things you can place in that area – a large painting to add visual impact when you come in the front door that will tie in all the colors of this open space (including the living area), a console where you can put some lamps and some framed pictures, a credenza, or a a buffet table (if these are not in your kitchen). You can even place an aquarium there. Or a longer sideboard buffet to house your vinyl player and vinyls, but taller so you don’t have to bend over. Looks like you have a lot of space, so that’s wonderful. Enjoy your new home!

If it were my house it would probably be one of these:
    – board game storage and a designated games table
    – desks with gaming, art, or kids setups
    – cozy reading nook
    – designated dog bed space
    – kids play area
