of my wife's immigrating to the US from the Soviet union.
I bought this bottle of 1952 Pol Roget Special Reserve Champagne at a charity auction 2 years ago, knowing full well that it would be way over the hill but figuring it would be fun to have for this anniversary.
As expected for a 74 year old champagne the wine was fully oxidized and all the bubbles were gone. The color was light lemon. It was very tasty with notes of lemon, cream and almonds. The palate was elegant and smooth and the finish lasted about 90 seconds. This wine must have been a monster when it was younger.
