Kleine Zalze Family Reserve Chenin Blanc (2024).
Kleine Zalze is a winery located in the middle of the Stellenbosch region, about 3 km from the city center in South Africa.
Family Reserve Chenin Blanc is made exclusively from old-vine Chenin Blanc grown on granite soils in Stellenbosch's certified Heritage Vineyards.
Grape variety: 100% Chenin Blanc.
Color: medium-intense lemon.
13% ABV.
After a short skin maceration, the wine ferments in a combination of French oak barrels, terracotta amphorae, and concrete eggs, then ages for around 9 months on its lees without new oak. Bottled unfiltered and unfined.
On the nose: notes of apricot and lemon dominate, complemented by hints of green apple and wet stone.
On the palate: dry, with a medium (+) to full body and high acidity. Flavors of white fruit and citrus are accompanied by a mineral character. The finish is long and mineral, with citrus notes.
