My wife and I want to redo our bathroom one day, but some unexpected home expenses have kicked that can down the road. The previous owners slathered thick white and red paint over the entire bathroom and it just looks so old and dated! There’s yellow and black tile from the 1930s beneath that paint but its not in great shape and I think it would be too hard/expensive to restore it. Any cheap and cheerful ideas to help us make this bathroom work for a few more years before we can gut reno? Thanks!!

I really think the basics are just needed here. Rug, plants on those shelves, shower curtain, maybe some sort of window covering.

Pick a neat shower curtain, and build your color scheme from there.

I’m confused. Where’s all that red paint you mentioned?

From the one pic, I love the black and white. It looks to be in good condition, esp the floor. The only thing I noticed was a yellowish sink in the bottom right corner, and I might replace this.

The rest depends on your personal taste. You could go for a tropical type vibe with the shower curtain, or just get some green in there. White black and green is a classic combo. Also, you may need to replace the hardware for the curtain. It looks like it might block part of the window.

Have I gone color blind? Where is the red? Is that not black? Edit to say I see a comment noting the black trim is actually red. Yikes.

put up a cute curtain over the window. Maybe a fake plant there. A softer shower curtain w color. I have similar bathroom but my tiles are a weird purplish grey.

Paint the window in a color of your choice. Shower curtains should be in decor of your choice. New fixtures hardware door handles. Grout paint pen is very inexpensive as well. The rest is decor color and theme of your choice.
