Looking for ideas for what to do with my living room. I like natural wood tones, but I don't really know where to go from here.

Eventually I'll replace the aluminum frame bay window and the wood burning fireplace with a gas fireplace, but it's not in the budget right now. I think it's more important to make it livable/cosy first.

I'd like to:

  • add a plant stand for more plants
  • add a lamp since there's no ceiling light
  • put the blueprint up somewhere
  • coffee table?
  • bench under the window?
  • accent chair?

But I don't know about the style or placement of these things. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  1. The white walls are not good for the space. With no idea of your color desires, I’d say to go with earthy tone paint. Something green and mossy colored would do a whole lot to soften the space. Plants, lamps, just a general warm up. Browse thrift stores and Marketplace. Nice touches can be very reasonable. Plus it’s fun to shop and score unique finds.

Is there any chance you could turn that window alcove into sort of a day bed situation? Maybe swap out the window coverings for something softer and add a nice cushion.

Absolutely love the fireplace. Some pops of orange would be fab with that and your blue couch.
