Finished Stephen West Music Cowl, Languishing WIPs, Tour de Fleece Spinning & Sewing Six Summer Garments
Tawnya (aknottyknitter2) from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho shares a traditional episode of The French Knot covering finished objects, WIPs, Tour de Fleece spinning, acquisitions, and sewing. She finishes Stephen West’s MusicKAL shawl (2025 MKAL), describing its construction, techniques (scallops, short rows, mosaic, brioche, I-cord bind-off), yarns/colors used (Farmers Daughter Fiber Foxy Lady plus mohair), and the commitment of ~1,800 yards. WIPs include Claudia Quintanilla’s Aureliano mohair colorwork sweater, Pernille Larsen’s My Line tank (short-row construction and cast-on fix), Purl Soho’s Striped Half + Half Triangles Wrap (multiple restarts to find the right needle), Summer Lee’s Clog Sock Light in Farmer Daughter Fibers Sock Squad Wild Violet, and the Cygnus Shawl (Amy Christopher) using handspun with Spin Cycle Wine. Spinning updates include multiple 3-ply spins for an Inclinations Shawl using Yarn Jam Podcaster Collection and RiverRat Yarns, plus plans to process a gifted fleece. Acquisitions feature July Sock Squad “Tides” and Purl Soho Cotton Chirp DK colors. In sewing, she makes six garments including Lane Pants, Summer Shorts, two Barry Pants, Bob Pants, and Dance Pants. She mentions a summer tee knit-along and meeting at Flock.

Your MusiKAL is gorgeous. You have sone of the prettiest colors I’ve seen for that shawl. You have a wonderful eye for mix and matching colors. I am glad you have it completed and I know you’ll enjoy it. ❤
Your shawls are gorgeous! I love the way you embrace new learning challenges.
Sorry to have multiple comments but otherwise I’d need to take notes 😂😂. If you don’t finish your comment after 5 minutes or so the darn iPad is trying to delete it 🤬. I love, love, love your Cygnus Shawl. I will be getting the pattern today and casting on. I am a shawl girl as well, but prefer they not be too big. Living in the Midwest, they take the place of a coat (unless it’s below freezing) and are the best ever conversation piece. I am starting to knit mine as well.
I can only wish to knit STEPHAN WEST SHAWL ,BUT IT AND ALL YOUR OTHER PROJECTS PLUS PANTS YOU ARE SO TALENTED ,THEY ARE ALL OUTSTANDING KNITS AND PANTS ,AND THE COLOR WORKS IN YOUR PROJECTS ARE OUTSTANDING ALSO,
That cygnus shawl…. jaw dropping. 😮
Great projects! I know what you mean about a Stephen West shawl. It took me ages to finish Shawlography but now it’s done I love it and it feels like such an achievement 😊
Wow you have been very busy! Would love to see how to process fleece
Your shawl is beautiful! I love the bookcase holding your books that’s behind you. Does it rotate and where did you purchase it? I have a small craft room and it would be perfect in size. I’m still an amateur knitter but I want to make your shawl.😊
Stone Mountain & Daughter is one of my favorite fabric stores!
I just love your color choices for the Aureliano! I would never knit a mohair sweater since I live in the desert. I think I'm going to have to knit those Clog socks. They are too cute. I'm going to Flock, but I will only be thereon Saturday morning.
Well done on your MUSIKAL. I’ve done the last 7 years and completed the previous 2 to the year I started. I’ve been wearing my MUSIKAL a bit lately as it’s winter here in Victoria and getting lots of compliments, mine is brown pink and cream with a tiny splash of bright blue in the speckled cream yarn 😊. Love all your knits ❤
I think the colors you chose for your Cygnus shawl are absolutely beautiful!
That Steven West purposely throws all that gaudy stitching into his shawls on purpose. He loves to challenge ya'll just to see if ya'll can keep up. I am NOT A FAN of his patterns, they're gaudy. More power to you for knitting it. You did a great job. But as for me, NO THANK YOU
Motivant, inspirant, et le choix de couleur 🥰🥰 Merci pour le partage de ces bonnes énergies qui incite à monter de nouveaux projets. 😃😃😃🧶🧶🧶
