I'm renovating at the moment and finally got to the lighting stage.
I'm thinking of adding wall sconces to create another layer of light in the living room, but there are way too many styles and I honestly can't decide anymore 😅
#1 The square plaster sconces give both up and down light, which I really like, but I’m a little worried about someone bumping into the corners.
#2 The half-round plaster sconces only throw light upward, but I really love the shape and think they feel a little more unique.
#3 The globe sconces have a nice, even glow and I love the look, but the light source isn't replaceable, which makes me hesitate.
#4 The shaded ones are a bit more traditional, but the bulb is replaceable, so they feel like the safer option long term.
Basically, every one has something I like and something that makes me second-guess it
Which one do you think works best in this room?

3 for me. It just looks the most natural in the room and the light feels softer.
The non-replaceable light source would make me pause though. I’ve become way more cautious about integrated LEDs after hearing too many “the light died, replace the whole fixture” stories
I don’t live any of them, and it seems like you’re not 100% sold on them either.
Below are some other ideas from a professional:

When the sconce material is stone/alabaster or linen, I promise it will cascade light both upward and downward, and create the ambient glow you are looking for.
