Heading to a Michelin star Italian restaurant in a few weeks for anniversary dinner, and want to try a nice, reasonably priced Nebbiolo with dinner and looking for recommendations from their wine list. (Wife is a California Pinot Noir drinker)

Best bang for luck? I read Langhe was a good region to get that. Ideally was hoping for under $150 as the meal is going to be pricey as well haha.

Screen shot of page 1 of the Nebbiolo list attached (there are two more pages with Barolo/Barbaresco wines going from $300 to $1000+ so didn't bother showing those as they are out of my price range)

Edit: Prices are Canadian, not American.

Diego Conterno Langhe at $115 is hard to beat for the price, it’s a great intro to Nebbiolo without the Barolo tax. If she likes Pinot Noir she’ll probably appreciate the lighter style too. Also worth asking the somm what they’re pouring by the glass, sometimes the BTG options on lists like these are the actual sweet spot.

  2. If you’re looking for similarities with Pinot Noir, I would skip the sfursat wines from Negri. It is Nebbiolo but in the style of Amarone.

I’d choose the No Name from Borgogno. Great wine and interesting story behind it.
