I got this bottle from my grandparents this year. They stored it in wine-fridges but I have only stored it in a regular fridge. I want to save it for a special occasion but maybe by then it will be too late? What do yall think?
PS, my mother ripped the aluminum off the cap thinking it was her Cava😐

I would open it now. I’ve opened bottles of Barbera that were younger than that which ended up being too old and undrinkable. Barbera typically isn’t made to age decades, so I would open it ASAP.
That bottle is only around $10, so if it’s not good anymore it might be fun to try a newer bottle from them.
I’m not optimistic about this bottle. Even if it was stored correctlly, Barbera does not have the same tannic structure that nebbiolo based wines (barolo/barbaresco).
Keep a backup bottle in case this is a corker.
That barbera needed to be drank in like 2010. You can try it but I’m not sure it will be good.
1st day of the rest of your life. Celebrate that and the weekend. The wine should be a banger. Enjoy mate !!!
Time to open was probably about 15 years ago but it might still be alive and kicking.
