Papargyriou Winery Assyrtiko Le Roi des Montagnes (2025).

Papargyriou Winery is a family-owned winery located in the village of Lalioti in Corinthia, in the northern Peloponnese.

Most Assyrtiko wines, especially those from Santorini, are produced with the aim of preserving maximum freshness and minerality. Le Roi des Montagnes Assyrtiko, however, takes a different approach – the grapes are harvested very late, usually in mid-October, allowing them to reach exceptional ripeness and concentration. After fermentation with several days of skin contact, the wine ages for 6-9 months in 500-liter oak barrels.

Grape variety: 100% Assyrtiko.

Color: amber.

13% ABV.

On the nose: aromas of ripe peach, honey, and lemon curd dominate, accompanied by subtle notes of spices, cloves, and vanilla.

On the palate: the wine is dry, with an oily texture and medium (+) body. Distinct medium(+) acidity brings freshness, while short skin contact brings noticeable tannins and additional structure. Long, citrusy-mineral finish.

PS. The wine was chilled to 10℃, but the temperature outside was 35℃.
